At the center of this brooch-pin is a rare golden South Sea pearl from Amami Ōshima Island near Okinawa. I acquired this pearl in Japan.
Amami pearls are especially prized by pearl experts for their phenomenal luster — a deep reflective glow and a rich mirror-like surface. They are renowned for the unique interplay of golden color with delicate pink overtones.
Typically, Amami pearls reach only 9–10 mm in size. This pearl, however, grew to 15 mm, making it an exceptional rarity and a true champion among golden pearls from this cultivation region. Within this remarkable pearl coexist a dominant golden hue, a soft pink overtone, and a subtle greenish nuance.
The sapphire “tail” of the brooch was composed as a color rhyme to the pearl itself, echoing the same delicate shifts of tone and the living play of color.
The sapphires are completely natural in color and untreated. Every stone was cut at our own manufactory from rough material.
Such one-of-a-kind jewels are born from a rare meeting between extraordinary material and a human vision of beauty.
The sapphires used in this brooch are accompanied by certificates. The pearl is accompanied by a certificate of origin (Amami).
